She was singer performer designer and broke barriers in the industry of music. Her function as a Mexican American performer was conventional and modern. She introduced Tejano to mainstream fame through her ingenuity. Her name was rising but her sudden death broke it. It is also the case when a brilliant, genial and young artist is lost too quickly, many mourned the potential that she had yet to achieve. In the following years, people were motivated to do their best to make sure that Selena's achievements would not be forgotten. The tragic shooting death of Selena caused a reaction in the Latino Community that was comparable with the reactions to the death of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. A hugely popular performer within Latino communities throughout North America her music crossed borders of culture to impact people young and old alike. Selena may have been hailed by some as the Latina Madonna, however she's still a fantastic character model. Selena's off-stage family values and her participation in AIDS awareness programs make her a good example.
