Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012 when she released Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. released on the 21st of July. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it together with Rihanna. On December 8 it was announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she sang together with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. On the 9th November, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. The track was released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. This track, which was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than 3 million times in the first 7 days. In December 2018 she was performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
